Check any nearby GFCI outlets. Often electricity flows sequentially from one GFCI outlet to other outlets and/or appliances so if a nearby one has tripped it could cause power issues. A properly functioning outlet should have a green light pop on.
If the disposal isn’t running at all or is weak, the motor could be failing or dead. If so,
First, ensure that the disposal switch is in the off position.
Use a garbage disposal wrench or a standard 1/4 Allen wrench on the flywheel turning wrench hole which is located on the bottom of the garbage disposal. Turn it counterclockwise to unjam the teeth so that the motor can keep running. If your home is not already supplied with one, you can pick one one
Then, use a shop-vac to vacuum any debris out of the hole. You can also throw ice cubes or egg shells in to clean it.
Last, hit the red button to reset it. Wait 10 minutes and then give it another try.
