We understand that life events may impact your ability to pay your rent. At Up&Up, we want to help you build wealth and work with you to prevent legal action.
What You Can Do:
1. Let us know immediately.
Be honest and direct. Email success@upandup.co notifying us of your situation. We will note it in your account and can help you schedule a call with our customer success team to discuss your options.
2. Look into your state and county's rental assistance programs, non-profits, or other rental assistance organizations.
211 Helpline - Your local 211 is the best resource for help finding options to pay your rent, mortgage, or utilities bills and stay in your home. You can call 211 to speak with someone immediately, or use the search on this page to find more contact information. Be ready to answer a few questions about your current living situation, any income you have, and any children or other dependents who live with you.
Local Nonprofits or Charities - Call your local non-profits or charities for rental assistance programs. Facebook community groups can be a surprising source for finding programs that are not posted online.
Religious Organizations - Some religious organizations offer rental assistance, budgeting classes, etc.
For Victims of Domestic Violence - You can find resources on your states' government website. If you can provide documentation, we may be able to waive an early termination fee.
Georgia Department of Community Affairs
Missouri Department of Social Services
3. Return Possession of the Home
Your balance can build quickly. Reach out to our Customer Success team at success@upandup.co about early termination options.
What Not To Do:
-
Do not ignore calls, emails, or attempts to reach out about your balance.
Our notification system will send you automated reminders about late payments if we do not hear from you. Phone calls from our Up&Up Customer Success team are attempts to work with you and gain clarity on when payments will be made.
-
Do not authorize transactions when there are insufficient funds.
Insufficient Fund returns cost you money when banks charge fees to return the transaction. Up&Up does not overdraft your account. You will be charged back any applicable fees.
-
Do not abandon the property.
You will remain liable for all Rent, Additional Rent, fees, and costs for the full Term of the Lease.
In Summary
Please see your lease for more information about legal action including collections and eviction. Communicate with us sooner rather than later about your financial hardship. We will work with you to prevent legal action.
**As of September 2024, Up&Up no longer offers payment plans for unpaid balances.**
